Mr. Shamim ur Rehman is a distinguished Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan with extensive experience in litigation, advisory, and legal education. He represents clients across all tiers of the judicial system, from courts of first instance to the Supreme Court, providing expert counsel in civil, criminal, labor, tax, and corporate law matters. His deep understanding of the law and strategic advocacy has earned him a reputation as a leading legal mind in Pakistan.
In addition to his practice, he is deeply committed to legal education. He serves as a visiting faculty member at several prestigious institutions, including Roots IVY School of Law, Dr. Iqbal Law School at Government College University Lahore, Punjab University Law College and the Punjab University Gender Department. Through these roles, he has contributed significantly to the professional development of aspiring lawyers, sharing his insights and practical experience in law.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his leadership and service to the legal community. He has held prominent positions includingSecretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (2019-2020) andSecretary of the Lahore Bar Association (2007-2008). His achievements have also been acknowledged internationally through the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), where he studied judicial reforms and the rule of law across key institutions in the United States.
A key aspect of his career has been his engagement with the Ministry of Law and Justice, Pakistan, where he delivered a series of lectures to ministerial staff on topics related to the Eighteenth Constitutional Amendment. This work reflects his dedication to bridging the gap between legal scholarship and practical governance, and highlights his expertise in constitutional law and policy development. He has worked extensively with organizations such as the Sungi Development Foundation, All Pakistan Women Association (APWA), Home Net Pakistan, Aurat Foundation, and the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. His contributions include mentoring female lawyers, conducting training sessions for police and jail officials, drafting legislation for home-based workers, and promoting awareness of women’s legal rights. He has played a pivotal role in legislative reforms concerning domestic violence, forced marriages, and workplace protections for women.
